Sprung Monkey is touring in support of their new album Dead is Dead. Examiner.com had the chance to check out a show with support from Good Intentions and Sacred Crow at The Griffin in San Diego Friday February 21, 2014. The show was presented by Slabratory Clothing.
Some things are worth the wait...It's been more than a decade since the last Sprung Monkey album, but they are back in full effect. They shredded the Griffin with a balls to the wall set packed with new tracks off Dead is Dead, and some old favorites like American Made. Video don't lie, and it's clear the crowd was loud and proud that a hometown favorite like Sprung Monkey is back on the scene. Also making a triumphant comeback is another local favorite Good Intentions [GI]. Front man Alex Fritz and drummer Ryan Kelley are back, but the rest of the lineup is revamped with legendary ex-Unwritten Law guitarist Rob Brewer, and local legend Dave Howe now on bass. GI rocked the stage with a proper mix of classics including the title track off their full length Amador Ave. as well as Day By Day among others... and a pack of new tracks the new lineup has been working on Baby Faced Assassin and Beyond The Fold. The new rockabilly sound is a tantalizing taste of things to come, and adds yet another sound to GI's broad spectrum. Check out video of the new edition of Good Intentions here:
Opening up the night were young bucks Sacred Crow. This group of under 21ers was the big surprise of the night as they rocked the house with their in your face style of dark rock. Clearly going through some of life's growing pains, they seem to have found a proper outlet through music. Watch out for Sacred Crow as they get set to record their album and make their mark on the music world wherever they go. Check out some video of Sacred Crow at the show here:
