On March 26 ABC News shares that Sprinkles Cupcakes has opened a cupcake ATM in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. This is following suit behind other large cities like Dallas, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Atlanta, and Las Vegas.
The way that it works is simple. Simply touch the screen and select your cupcake flavor. Choices include; black & white, chocolate coconut, Cuban coffee, dark chocolate, lemon meringue, red velvet, strawberry, vanilla or vanilla milk chocolate. swipe your card at the ATM and pay the $4.25. Wait 10 seconds then out pops a single serve cupcake box with your cupcake in it.
The cupcake ATM gets refilled several times a day so that the cupcakes remain fresh. Also because the boxes take up room so not as many cupcakes you would think can fit into the machine. The Sprinkles ATM is open 24-hours, however, the storefront that is coming will not be.
Sprinkles Cupcakes is owned by Candes Nelson who is also a judge on Food Network's popular baking challenge show, "Cupcake Wars."
