It's springtime, and time for spring home maintenance. The number one thing for being a homeowner is to not be a procrastinator. As Barney Fife, always says, "Nip it." If you see a problem fix it, or have it fixed promptly. I don't mean to sound like your parent, but if you wait, it will end up costing you more in the long run.
Let's just take a moment and think of the weather conditions for this season. For the months of March and April, it is generally a windy and rainy time, so keep an eye on those shingles. If you notice a loose or broken shingle, repair it. If not repaired, your home could result in water damage causing rot, drywall damage, and mold. Also, saturated wood can make a lovely home for those dreadful pests, we know as termites.
I know many shingle roofs were replaced in Bowling Green in 1998 due to the hail storm. I know this because I was there, on top your houses with nail apron on and hammer in hand. That makes your shingle roof approx. 12 years old, and twelve years is about mid-life for most shingles. As it is with human life, our bodies, at middle age, start to break down which results in maintenance. This lets us know how important it is to keep an eye out for possible leaks. As a contractor, many times I have seen what prolonged water leaks can result in, and let me tell you the only one this is benefiting is the contractor. So unless you just want to do your part for the economy and create jobs for contractors, get these problems addressed as soon as you can.
