This time of year brings nice weather, graduations, and dance recitals; all of which are perfect opportunities to do a photo shoot for your child, family, or senior. PB and J Photography is a great option in the triad for getting these photos done.
PB and J Photography is owned by local mom Angie Clyburn Gardner. Gardner was a pediatric nurse for over 13 years but after the birth of her last daughter she decided to leave the nursing field and take on photography which she’s always had a passion for. While many local photographers often name their business with their name, Gardner wanted to incorporate her two daughter’s names into her business’ name. Her and her husband often called their oldest daughter Peanut or Peanut Butter. Then while pregnant with her second daughter her other daughter called her belly Baby Jelly so the name Peanut Butter and Jelly (or PB & J) was born!
While Gardner has experience with all types of photography her two favorite types that she specialize in are newborn and senior portraits. Since she was a pediatric nurse she works well with babies and they feel comfortable with her. Senior portraits allow her to try all kinds of things with her photography because as Gardner states, “They are up for anything and I love that”.
What sets her photographs apart from other photographers? Gardner states, “I really try to capture personality! I also like to incorporate interested like favorite hobbies, clothes, toys, etc to really capture what that person loved most at that moment. I really list to what my clients want no matter how different or crazy it might seem initially. I aim to make the photography sessions special as the experience is just as important as the images themselves.”
Every photographer has a different story on how they became a photographer and what inspired them to begin their journey. Gardner is no different. She said her husband Brian is who, “encouraged and devoted a lot of his time to help her fulfill this dream, whether with technical support, assisting on sessions, watching the kids so I could go to school, classes, and sessions. He is my hero and best friend and I know I would have never done it if it wasn’t for him!”
PB and J Photography offers customized sessions on location (within 45 minutes of Clemmons) or at her studio . In addition to normal photography sessions she often does spring and fall mini sessions. She also runs a Spokesmodel Program for high school seniors. In this program she chooses one male and one female from each local high school to represent PB and J Photography where they get featured in her ads, website and social media. She also offers products such as framed portraits, prints and CDs with rights to the images.
Gardner has two daughters, Peyton (age 10) and Reese (age 7). As a working mom herself this is the piece advice she’d like to give other working moms, “Never give up on your dreams.”
