Spring cocktail menus hit the bars of New York!

The sun is shining, birds are singing and people have stored away their heavy winter coats for a lighter option – Spring is starting in New York City! With good moods abound and patrons frequenting more bars (now that they won’t freeze on the walk to their local watering hole), it’s time to take on some of the flavors of Spring in cocktails. Below are a few choice drinks that will leave you kissing that cold weather goodbye! Cheers!

The Wildflower, by Tim Cooper, Sweetwater Social

1.5 oz. Brugal Extra Dry Rum

1 oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice

.75 oz. St. Germain

.25 oz. Simple Syrup

1 dash Lavender Bitters

Shake all ingredients, strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an edible orchid.

Aperol Spritz - ask for it at new hotspot Nitecap

3 Parts Cinzano Prosecco

2 Parts Aperol

1 Dash Soda

Ice and a slice of Orange

Add ice and a slice of orange, pour in the Prosecco, the Aperol and add a dash of soda. This avoids the Aperol settling at the bottom.

La Ranita by Omar Hernandez, Omar’s La Ranita

2 oz Corralejo Reposado Tequila

.75 oz fresh Lime Juice

.75 oz fresh Lemon Juice

.75 oz Red Wine Syrup (reduction of Malbec and sugar. Equal parts.)

1 teaspoon of Apricot Jam

Pour all contents in a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously. Pour contents into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Rocks glass with a half rim of Lime zest salt.

Lime Zest salt: Equal parts zested lime and salt.

1 oz. Campari

1 oz. Sweet Vermouth

1.5 oz. Fresh Orange Juice

1 oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice

1 slice Jalapeño, muddled

Cava to top

Muddle jalapeño and shake together with all ingredients except Cava. Strain into a crushed ice-filled highball glass and top with Cava. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a sprig of mint.

Chandon Prickly Pear – a do-it-yourself cocktail!

1 oz of agave syrup

1 oz of prickly pear juice

2 oz of lemonade

3 oz of Chandon Rosé

Pour the agave syrup, prickly pear juice and lemon juice in a shaker. Add ice. Shake until mixed well. Strain into a decorative glass and add Chandon Rosé.
