Springsteen's 'High Hopes' goes online 41 years after first album release

Bruce Springsteen's 18th studio album High Hopes began to stream free online Sunday night. 41 years to the day that he released his first album.

Setting a new precedent, High Hopes is available for fans to listen to online beginning last night and continuing through Jan. 14, as part of a joint promotion for the CBS series "The Good Wife." The album, is officially to be released next Tuesday.

On Jan. 5, 1973, Springsteen's first studio album, Greetings from Asbury Park, was released. On that day, an album was only released on vinyl and was promoted only through music magazine reviews and airplay on radio stations.
