Springsteen performs for first time in South Africa today

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kick off their first-ever tour in South Africa today. Given Springsteen's usual concert start time, they should take the stage around 1:15 p.m. EST.

This is the band's first performance since their release of High Hopes, Springsteen's 18th studio album, earlier this month. Today will most likely be the premier of some of the new releases on the album, which is a mix of new and pre-released material.

This will be the first of a three-concert stand at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town, South Africa. They'll play there again on Tuesday and Wednesday before moving onto Johannesburg for a concert at FNB Stadium, Saturday, Feb. 1.

The band has been practicing in Cape Town for the past couple days. Check out some great photos taken by Jo Lopez at their rehearsal sessions.
