Springleaf Drum from "Born of the Gods"
Wizards of the Coast

Today Jan 13, 2014 Wizards of the Coast officially revealed in an update to the image gallery of that Springleaf Drum would be reprinted in the company's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Born of the Gods." Originally printed in "Lorwyn" as a common, Springleaf Drum has jumped up in rarity to uncommon.

Springleaf Drum - 1
Artifact (Uncommon)
Tap, Tap an untapped creature you control: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
"The music is in the drum. I simply coax it out to be heard."

Springleaf Drum transforms one of your creatures into a mana dork, able to produce any color. One of the things that makes this artifact that can go into any deck so fantastic is that you're able to use its ability on a creature you've just summoned the same turn.

In "Born of the Gods" Springleaf Drum has synergy with creatures that have inspired such as Pain Seer and Mediator of the Ideal. With "Born of the Gods" spoilers only just beginning, we can expect many more inspired cards for Springleaf Drum to interact with.

Springleaf Drum has been featured in several competitive decks in multiple formats such as Elves and Affinity, helping power out early ridiculous turns. There's no doubt it'll make an appearance in a Standard deck or two now that it's been reprinted.

How will you use Springleaf Drum?
