The cold front that passed through today is moving offshore as drier and much cooler air follows in behind the front. High pressure begins to build out of the Great Lakes and into New England Monday, moving offshore by Tuesday. Once the high moves to our east a southwest flow returns and a warm from will lift northward Tuesday. This will warm us up Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with an increase in humidity as well. It will cool down again toward the end of the week as another cold front moves through later Thursday or Thursday night.
After a chilly Sunday night, whereas temperatures fall into the upper 30s to 40 degrees, Monday starts off chilly, but temperatures recover nicely for the afternoon under abundant sunshine. It should be a classic early September day and perfect for any outdoor activity.
Clouds begin to move in Monday night and Tuesday as the warm front approaches. We should average out with a mix of clouds and sun Tuesday with a slight chance of a passing shower. Temperatures will rapidly warm and could reach into the low 80s for the afternoon hours.
The warmth and humidity will firmly be in place Wednesday as summer returns. Temperatures return well into the 80s under a partly to mostly sunny sky. There is a chance of a few showers at night as it stays warm and muggy overnight.
With a cold front approaching on Thursday there is a better chance for showers, perhaps a few thunderstorms and continued warm and humid. Once the front moves to our east conditions begin to improve with drier and cooler weather to follow on Friday.
