This evenings radar map shows a general area of showers and thunderstorms throughout the eastern Great Lakes and western New York State with lighter showers in the lower Hudson River Valley into portions of Connecticut. This area of precipitation is moving southeastward and is expected to clip southwestern portions of New England overnight, including western Massachusetts and greater Springfield. Meanwhile, a warm front pushed through the area earlier today and it has become more humid and it will remain humid through mid week.
Tonight, we can expect showers and a chance of a thunderstorm, which should wind down and end early on Tuesday. As the upper level disturbance moves slowly to our east skies partially clear by Tuesday afternoon, although another pop up shower or storm is possible late in the day. Some of the showers or storms may produce heavy downpours tonight and late on Tuesday, but not everyone will get one of these. It is possible that some localized street and low lying flooding of poor drainage areas occurs if the heavy rain persists long enough.
More showers and storms may impact the area on Wednesday as an upper level low crawls across southern New England. A cold front is forecast to swing through here on Thursday which will allow for less humidity and slightly cooler air to return by Friday as high pressure returns. This should set us up for a great start to the long holiday weekend.
