It's baseball season in Arizona. Baseball fans are flocking to the Valley of the Sun for Spring Training games and events.
Spring Training Festival
Kicking off the 2012 Cactus League season is the Feb. 25-26 Spring Training Festival. This is a free two-day event at Scottsdale Civic Center Park and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
Visitors can enjoy Play Ball: The Cactus League Experience. This is a long-term program from the Mesa Historical Museum that examines the history of the Cactus League and its impacts on our community. The museum has created a one of a kind collection of spring training memorabilia, stories, and photographs that boasts over 2,500 pieces in the collection.
Another event is the Science of Baseball Festival, a symposium of many of the nation's top sports researchers who will discuss and debate longstanding baseball trends and innovations. There will be interactive activities for visitors.
And there will be food. Enjoy special cuisine from local restaurants who will create dishes that are reminiscent of ballpark specialties. Peruse art, purchase baseball merchandise and listen to live music.
Meet the Players
Many players from the 15 teams that make up the Cactus League will be represented at the Spring Training Festival.
This is an ideal time to get your Spring Training tickets, purchase baseball souvenirs and, if you are lucky, score autographs from some of the teams former players who are expected to make special appearances throughout the festival. More Information.
