Spring Roll

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls will be holding their annual spring tournament, Spring Roll from May 17-19, at the Memorial Coliseum, 400 Parnell Ave. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The original Spring Roll was developed primarily for B teams from different regions to bout one another, but was revamped to accommodate play time for teams from other Associations as well as the recent implementation of WFTDA divisions. This weekend event will feature 10 MRDA teams (Men’s Roller Derby Association), 6 JRDA teams (Junior Roller Derby Association), and 8 WFTDA teams (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association). In response to the current WFTDA division restructuring, some WFTDA bouts will be sanctioned to give competing teams an opportunity to meet their Division Game Play Requirements.Over the course of the three day event, the MRDA teams will play three bouts each, the JRDA teams will play two bouts each, and the WFTDA teams will play three bouts each with as many bouts sanctioned by the WFTDA as possible. This event will not follow typical tournament structure with the winners proceeding with play throughout the weekend and the losing teams being disqualified from future bouts, but will rather give all participating teams the opportunity to bout multiple times at one venue and event. WFTDA teams from all over the country participate in Spring Roll, including the Dutchland Rollers from Lancaster, PA. The event will also include a Saturday night featured bout where the Mid-West Women’s Mega team will face off against MRDA Race City Rebels.
