Spring Lake 5 to kick off Tenth Annual Jersey Shore Grand Prix (Photos)

The 37th Annual Spring Lake 5 Mile Race will be held of Saturday, May 25, 2013 in the Jersey Shore borough of Spring Lake, N.J. The race is part of the Jersey Shore Grand Prix Seies of races. The Series includes the premiere summer racing events along the Jersey Shore in Belmar, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Red Bank and Spring Lake..

According to the Friends of the Spring Lake 5 who organize the race those who ran the 2012 Spring Lake 5 should be receiving an email soon with instructions on how to register for this year’s Spring Lake 5 to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013.

General registration for all others will start on Saturday, February 2nd and begin at 5:00 a.m. and will close when the limit of 10,000 in the race is reached. According to Race Director, Phil Hinck of Monmouth Beach “This took place in a couple of hours in 2012 and we expect that will be similar this year.” Click here starting at 5 a.m. on February 2, 2013 for online registration.

Saturday, May 25, 5 Miles, 8:30 a.m., Spring Lake 5, Spring Lake, N.J.

Saturday, June 15, 8:30 a.m., Sheehan Classic, Red Bank, N.J.

Saturday, July 13, 5 Miles, 8:30 a.m., Belmar 5, Belmar, N.J.

Saturday, August 10, 8:30 a.m., Asbury Park 5k, Asbury Park, N.J.

Monday, September 2, 5K, 8:30 a.m., Pier House 5k, Long Branch, N.J.

The series has proved popular over the years bringing together the top road races along the Jersey Shore.

The series will again be Sponsored by McLoone's. All the races should be held as normal with reconstruction along the shore as a result of Hurricane Sandy completed sufficiently to hold the races on their regular routes.

Last year’s series winners were: Sean Rath of Atlantic Highlands, N.J. and Dactilla Booth of Long Branch, N.J.
