The first Spring Lake 5 Race held in 1977 attracted a few hundred runners in this sea shore town of Spring Lake, New Jersey. On May 28, 2011 the race will again be held and some 10,000 plus will participate in the event.
Entry to the race was open just about a week ago and the limit of the 10,000 runners was reached today according to Race Director, Phil Hinck. There are still opportunities to enter through one of the many charitable organizations that are partnering with the event - information on these charities can be found on the Official Spring Lake 5 Web Site.
The 5 mile race starts and finishes on Ocean Avenue and winds its way around the town. In addition to the large field it always attracts a very competitive field of runners.
