Spring is a time of peace, renovation and harmony. With the advent of the months of March and April, temperatures in the northern hemisphere start to rise melting the snow, the first green buds appear on the trees and wildlife creatures are born in the forests
However, in Doral,FL there is no snow or forests, nor the trees lose leaves; and native wildlife is limited to the few lost egrets flying over the avenues looking for the everglade, or the occasional crocodile that has been washed away to the city lakes or canals, spreading fear among those who find them lurking in their gardens.
While children looked forward to the Spring Break to have a well-deserved rest before taking the FCAT, faithful citizens made preparations for their religious celebrations such as Easter or Passover.
But what people of Doral expect to see is yet to come, and it is being able to recover the atmosphere of peace, stability, harmony and teamwork that during nine years distinguished the City Government and reflected in quality of life for the citizens.
People of Doral want to see stable institutions and Council meetings that match the aspirations of being a model city for other communities; sessions that follow procedures and protocols, where discussions take place within a harmonious environment, always in pursuit of the greater good that is to benefit the whole community.
People get the government they deserve and Doral residents know they deserve authorities focused on progress, inclusion, peace and harmony.
People of Doral want spring to bring with it peace and successful results, no more changes, dismissals, resignations, quarrels, intrigues and divisions. Is that too much to ask from the Council and City staff, after four months exercising municipal authority?
The most important thing is not what to do or how to follow traditions that celebrate the arrival of spring. The essential thing is that the spirit of peace, purification, renewal, hope, growth and joy the season brings remain all year long and encourage unity and teamwork for the sake of the City; because the people of Doral want their city to be once again vibrant, optimistic, united and progressive. What citizens of Doral want is a city where coexistence and peace prevail.
