Happy Spring!
Today - March 20th - marks the official First Day of Spring. And while many of us are still waiting for temperatures to begin rising, it is never too early to start planning fun spring activities to get yourself active, outdoors, and making memories.
Now is a great time to start looking for fun races in your area to sign up for. Websites such as Running in the USA and Road Race Runner list races in your area by distance, month, etc. Most sites also include fun ‘adventure’ type races such as the Color Run, or the Warrior Dash. Racing is a fun activity to do with friends and family, as well as a great way to challenge yourself and push your limits.
The internet is also a great resource to look up fun spring festivals being held in your area, ushering in the warm weather. Many cities hold wine tasting festivals, food truck rallies, or restaurant weeks. Open up a new browser and do a little searching!
Along those same lines, check out listings for upcoming concerts in the area. Outdoor concert venues are a great way to reunite with friends, and enjoy a night under the stars with good music and good company. The website Live Nation is a great resource for receiving local concert bookings via email – they also have a great free app for phones as well.
Spring is also a unique time as professional basketball, baseball and hockey are currently overlapping seasons. Most Major League Baseball team’s have home openers rapidly approaching, while your favorite NBA or NFL team may be on the road to the playoffs which both begin at the end of April. Check out Stub Hub for possible cheap ticket listing as another option for a memorable spring outing!
If you’re looking for lower cost warm weather activities, look for local state parks or natural areas that may offer hiking. Pack a picnic with a buddy and enjoy a day of backpacking and good food. Find a local lake or pond and cast a reel in. Kayak and canoe rentals typically come cheap, and offer a scenic yet challenging workout.
No matter where your passions may lie, Spring is a season that offers it all. And all it really takes to plan your next outing is a quick internet search. So go get to planning... warm weather is on the way!
