The 6th annual Spring Grüv will begin this weekend at the Canyons Resort with the pond skimming event on Saturday, March, 23, 2013. For 10 days, Spring Grüv will entertain with huge, free concerts in the Resort Village and the Operation Smiles Celebrity Ski Challenge will take place next weekend on March 30, 2013.
The traditional pond skimming contest is the Canyons’ most popular and wild event as contestants attempt to cross a 100-foot pond on skis or a snowboard. What makes the pond skimming event even more entertaining is the fact the contestants must dress up in a costume; the funkier the better.
March 30, 2013, is the day of the Operation Smiles Celebrity Ski Challenge. This is a fundraiser to benefit children around the world who are born with cleft lips and cleft palates, whose parents can’t afford the surgery that they desperately need. Teams of six racers that will include one celebrity skier, one Olympian skier and four amateur/Operation Smile donor skiers, will compete against one another in a head-to-head dual slalom race where best overall team score wins.
Some of the bands performing the concerts in the Resort Village include the North Mississippi Allstars, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Toots & the Maytals, and Eufórquestra.
Spring Grüv is going to bring on the wild, exciting, and craziness in the outdoors at the Canyons Resort beginning this weekend. It’ll be a great celebration of a fantastic snow year, so don’t miss out on the festivities.
