For a number of years the Chrysler Performance West club has put on both the Spring Fling and Fall Fling shows in Van Nuys, CA. I've read about this show for quite a long time, as it's ranked among the best Mopar shows aside of the Mopar Nationals or the Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle. It was time for a visit to see what the hubbub is all about.
According to Chrysler Performance West's website, "The Spring Fling Mopar event is the largest Mopar car show and swap west of the Mississippi, with a car show, swap meet, and midway on Saturday and Sunday. Over 700 cars, 300 swappers, 50 manufacturer and over 9000 spectators. Spring Fling activities start on Thursday ranging from Willow Springs track day, driving cruises, and cruise-in. Spring Fling Mopar car show is attended by Mopar fans from all over the world and has gained international media coverage."
Saturday's show was a general car show for people who wanted to relax; Sunday's show was judged, so many of the vehicles were new for the weekend, practically making the event two car shows in one.
And the cars? Not enough space to post them all, but finned Exner vehicles were in abundance, including a number of station wagons. Even Jay Leno was there with his Turbine car, although he was taking off when I was arriving. Take a glance at the slide show and see the variety of Mopars in the San Fernando Valley - kudos to Chrysler Performance West for a show well done!
