Spring fever

The bike sitting in the basement is starting to get to me. I can't get motivated to ride on the trainer and I'm not ready to go out into the elements. Perhaps if we were 30 years younger we'd be doing one or the other. It just seems that there is never any time and then at the end of the day you feel as though you just wasted time and didn't accomplish anything.

At least we're ready (well almost).

A while back I told my wife that I was setting our first tandem up on the trainer (so we could train during the winter) and I was going to clean and do some maintenace on the tandem we're now going to be riding the most come spring. I thought that I'd clean up the cassette and chain ring and perhaps change out the old chain. As happens with most projects I found things I didn't like as soon as I started. Last year we dropped the chain off the granny gear and it chipped up the frame behind the chain ring. Touch up!

I also bought a stop from N Gear to prevent that from happening again. Installed!

As I was cleaning up the chain ring I noticed that all three rings were slightly beat up here and there so I decided that new rings were in order. Also, Installed!

Last but not least I upgraded the cassette and new chain. We are ready!

Now the last problem. It's still too cold to ride outside and we haven't been using the trainer but it's time to start. I'd like to take a long weekend somewhere so we can go for a ride but the weather doesn't want to cooperate. If spring doesn't appear somewhere soon we'll have to drive 1000 miles and that's not going to happen.

So here's is where we stand. #1. We need to get on the trainer. #2. The weather has to change somewhere, or #3. We just need a long weekend away and maybe everything will look better even if it's too cold to ride.

I hope all of you have figured this out!
