Even though it still feels like winter most days, there are some small signs that spring is coming here to Southeast Idaho. Even when it snows, it is melting fast and the tulips and other spring bulbs have started to awaken and display some promising green leaves. After a long winter, isn’t it about time to put some spring into our home decorating?
Following are three ideas to inspire your spring decorating:
- Plants and flowers: Spring is the time of rebirth and a great way to enjoy this rebirth is with greenery and flowers. If you want the real thing, splurge for some real cut flowers. Enjoy tulips, hyacinths and the like that are prominent in all the stores. Feel like you want something more permanent than this? Invest in some new silk plants. Check out this view from Real Deals. If you are fortunate enough to have tulips and hyacinths in your yard that are actually blooming, why not cut them and bring them inside to enjoy? Change the water often and you will get to enjoy them even longer.
- Candles and/or potpourri: Pastel colored candles or potpourri can be decorative and can alter our moods too. Smells can elicit memories of sunny days and bring to mind fresh green grass and early spring flowers. Walmart has some Better Homes and Gardens wax melts that you can put in your Scentsy warmers in scents that range from Lilac to Warm Vanilla Crème. Why not use candles for color like lavender or spring green? Put out a bowl with some pretty potpourri or scented fragrance balls.
- Add some color: Change that dark colored tablecloth to a bright spring colored one or pick up one of the spring printed vinyl cloths from Joann’s or one of the dollar stores. Change out the kitchen towels and pot holders for some spring color. Change the bathroom finger tip towels to reflect the season. These little touches can make a huge difference in not only your attitude about cleaning and decorating but also your attitude about cooking.
So, if you are tired of winter and need a breath of spring, try out some of these ideas for some springtime home decorating ideas and inspiration. Get out and find your own glimpses of spring and experience Mother Nature’s glorious rebirth.
