Spring break offers volunteer and career opportunities

Bryan Colona is hoping to use the upcoming spring break to improve his career prospects by volunteering at a Miami area homeless shelter.

"My goal is to become a lawyer. But there are a lot applicants to law school so I believe that by helping out in the community will make my application look better," said Colona.

Reginald Andrews will not spend much time at the beach during spring break. A Miami resident who attends college, Andrews will continue working at his grocery store job during the break. "I won't be attending classes during my spring break, but I will be working. I hope to get more hours during spring break," said Andrews.

Bryan Nichols of Miami will help out a law firm during his spring break. "I will attend law school next fall. During my spring break, I will work at a law firm during my week off from school. I am looking forward to gaining work experience."

Spring break has always been a vacation from the books for students. But many students use the week to gain work experience.
