Spring has officially sprung, so students in Atlanta are eagerly anticipating spring break 2013. Because individual school systems set their own schedules, parents are often confused as to when spring break officially begins and ends. Below are the exact dates for spring break 2013 for Atlanta area school systems in Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cherokee and Forsyth Counties.
- Fulton County schools: Monday, April 1-Friday, April 5, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 8.
- Cobb County schools: Monday, March 8-Friday, March 12, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 15.
- DeKalb County schools: Monday, March 8-Friday, March 12, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 15.
- Gwinnett County schools: Monday, March 8-Friday, March 12, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 15.
- Cherokee County schools: Monday, April 8-Friday, April 12, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 15.
- Forsyth County schools: Monday, April 1-Friday, April 5, 2013. Students report back to school on Monday, April 8.
If you’re planning on staying in Atlanta, there are plenty of free or cheap ways to enjoy spring break in 2013. Below are a few suggestions to enjoy the ATL during the warmer, springtime months.
- Take a hike: The Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell offers miles of hiking trails and a hand-on Discovery Center for hours of fun and educational experiences.
- Get lost in a museum: Imagine It! and The High are all perfect places to help kids expand their cultural horizons.
- Ride a bike: There are plenty of trails to explore, including the popular Silver Comet Trail and those at Stone Mountain Park.
- Get up close and personal with animals. Commune with furry or aquatic friends at Zoo Atlanta or Georgia Aquarium.
