A few months ago I have visited Las Vegas. Checking out window displays of Prada, Gucci and Chanel boutiques showcasing superfluous merchandise and of course shopping at my favorite stores were on this trip’s itinerary.
Located right in the “heart” of Vegas strip Coca-cola store was one of those favorite shopping joints of mine. So I ended up with the bag full of coca-cola paraphernalia including absolutely fabulous minaudiere in the iconic shape of soda can. An impulsive buy, that kitschy metallic white on red clutch was meant to become a part of my vast “unwearable arts” collection.
So I thought till later on I read a sneak preview of accessories’ trends for Spring 2013 in Style .Com/Print. According to the magazine we should all forget about “slim portfolios” that “ruled for seasons”, start thinking in 3-D and “grow handbag repertoire” by adding pieces replicating perfume bottles(Lanvin, Charlotte Olimpia) ,Legos (Chanel), rotary dial phones(La tilde),etc.
What Style.Com forgot to mention was how to wear those one-of-a kind conversational bags.
I glanced at some Spring 2013 RTW slideshows and based on what I saw made following conclusions:
1.Make your quirky bag a focal point of the whole ensemble (choose simple clothing silhouettes);
2.Highlight “the bag” by pairing it with a different texture(canvas floral appliqué tote and neoprene two piece number at Prada)or complimentary colour(green Lego clutch and purple pant suit at Chanel).
