“Let’s hear it for the boys” is superb and its always fun to be a girly girl in menswear but when it comes to spring 2012 fashion we see a welcomed return to feminity, glamour, and daintiness. One of the biggest trends for this upcoming season is florals in every color, fabric, and article of clothing and to stay on top of these trend,s a fashionista will just have to realize that it’s coming up daisies, lilacs, and orchids. The spring 2012 shows were bombarded with almost every designer showcasing their love of botanical prints and flower power from blazers to dresses to purses to skinny pants. Although not everyone is going to embrace some of the intense Hawaiian prints mixed with leather seen at the Altuzarra show or don floral evening wear as showcased on the Peter Som runway, many average consumers can still incorporate this trend into everyday life by keeping it simple with basics. DC is home to politicos and a more conservative way of dress but this trend can still be worn very well in this lifestyle by subduing the lively print with basic pieces in more neutral hues such as black, grey, and white. Of course it’s always fun to stand out and there is no better way to do so than going all out in a vibrant Hawaiian print suit! (see this look pulled off very well by a local fashion blogger here)
So DC Fashionistas, will you be adding a few floral items into your wardrobe this spring or will you be more daring by rocking out in the bright neon floral ensembles on a regular basis? Whichever you choose, here are some great pieces to start off your arsenal…….
