‘Spreading Romney’ - Mitt dogged by tale of canine abuse - Seamus claims revenge

 Romney: To defecate in terror.

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is being dogged by a tale of canine abuse. In memory of Romney’s mistreated Irish Setter named Seamus, dog lovers have orchestrated a successful campaign to redefine the word “Romney.”

Raw Story reports that as of Monday the satirical redefinition of the word “Romney” now appears in the top 10 Google search results for the Republican presidential candidate’s last name.

Wikinews reports that a new website SpreadingRomney.com now appears prominently among Internet search results for Mitt Romney's last name and defines “romney” as: "to defecate in terror".

Romney takes Seamus for a cruel ride

The Huffington Post reports that in 1983, Romney packed up his family for a 12-hour drive from Boston to Ontario. After packing his luggage and his five sons into the family the car, there was no room for the family's Irish Setter, Seamus. In a now infamous response to his dilemma, Romney strapped the dog's crate to the car roof, and placed poor Seamus into crate, forcing the dog to suffer a dangerous and terrifying 12 hour drive.

At one point in the grueling road trip poor Seamus suffered a nasty bout of diarrhea, defecating in terror. A cold and unfeeling Romney simply pulled into a service station, borrowed a hose, and washed down Seamus and the car. After cleaning up the mess, Romney made the terrified dog get back into the crate strapped to the top of the car and continued with the road trip.

The “Spreading Romney” movement was inspired by the santorum neologism coined by advice columnist Dan Savage in response to comments made by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum about homosexuality; Savage's readers voted to define santorum as: "the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex."

Dogs Against Romney

Dogs Against Romney, a Facebook group with over 25,000 members, plan to protest  Mitt Romney's abusive treatment of dogs on Tuesday, February 14. According to an announcement from the group, “the protest will seek to focus more public attention on the fact that Romney forced his dog to ride for 12-hours on the roof of his car - and even coldly hosed the dog down with water after he became ill and frightened, soiling himself - before driving for hours more - all while Romney's luggage rode inside the car.”
