The League of Legends Championship Series is giving Esports fans a chance to follow pro-LoL teams closer than ever before. For those looking to catch a weekly game or two in season 3 it will be nice to get to know the teams that you’re watching. Here’s a spotlight on one of the teams we’ll be seeing during the series.
TEAM DIGNITAS
Background:
Team Dignitas was founded in February of 2011 under the sponsorship of the Britain based international e-sports organization of the same name. Team Dignitas Ltd. Sponsors teams from "Battlefield 3" to "Fifa", and "StarCraft 2" and has been going strong since 2003. Their professional European “League of Legends” team was short lived lasting from February to April of 2011.
The company picked up the NA team Rock Solid after the disbanding of their EU LoL team. The roster included Jatt, imaqtpie, L0cust, Voyboy, and Scarra. After getting sponsored by Team Dignita Ltd. The team went by the name of Team Dignitas. The roster has undergone a series of changes leading up to their present roster.
In pre-season 2 Dignitas showed their mettle in the NA scene besting established teams like Curse and CLG in tournaments. The team consistently performed well in North American tournaments throughout season 2 placing second in the IEM VI World Championship, 3rd in both IPL 4 and MLG 2012 Spring Championship, and finally winning 2nd in the season 2 NA regional finals.
Dignitas earned themselves a spot in the season 2 World Championships only to lose three games putting themselves out of the tournament. They did however nab a seat for Riot’s season 3 championship series with their high performance during season 2.

Fun Facts:
-You may have noticed Jatt as a reoccurring caster for Riot LoL tournaments. Jatt was the former jungler for Dignitas and left the team because he was unable to devote the time needed to keep his level of play where it needed to be. His current position with Riot is Associate Game Analyst.
-Dignitas added Team Pulse on Feb. 3 as their sub lineup and challenger team. Team Pulse’s roster includes Kenace, Onionbagel,SnEaKyCaStRoO,Evaniskus, and zig.
-Often paired with Jatt while casting tournament matches it was Leigh "Deman" Smith who suggested Jatt’s former team Rock Solid be picked up by Team Dignitas LTD.
-Dignitas was involved in the controversial ARAM match in the MLG Summer Championship against Curse Gaming.
