Spotlight on professional development: ed2go

Ever wondered how to get ahead in your job or how to improve your current skill set? Perhaps you want to take a class to help keep your mind active? Help is at hand with a computer.

Online provider, ed2go, provides adult and continuing education courses by collaborating with various educational institutions. The site has two paths: lifelong learning and online career training – all via a local school, college, or university.

To check whether a school in a specific geographical area has partnered with ed2go, click the “Participating Schools” tab, then enter a zip code. For example, the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Orange County Public Schools’ Career & Technical Department, and Seminole State College all offer courses through ed2go.

The subjects and courses offered at each institution differ, but they range from business to technology to healthcare and law to personal interest, not to mention adult education with GED preparation, high school credit, and college readiness courses. Costs vary depending upon the subject, but many courses are under $100. The courses are not lengthy and can fit around work and school schedules.

Ed2go offers a wide range of courses through its partners that are cost conscious, which helps in the current economy. If you think you would benefit, check them out.
