Spotlight on Louisville Twitter User Taylor Trusty of Blackstone Media

The spotlight today is on Taylor Trusty, Director of Development/Principal of Blackstone Media. Active in social media, Taylor is becoming a familiar name online in the business community. Here are a few things he had to say about using Twitter:

How long have you been using Twitter?

Since September 2008.

Why do you use Twitter?

Twitter keeps me informed on the happenings in our industry and other topics that interest me (business, technology, politics, economics). There are several local Twitter users I follow to make sure I'm aware of what's going on in Louisville too. I learned that Malcolm Gladwell was coming to town last January through Twitter, for example.

Twitter is perfect for keeping informed of industry happenings, have you used it successfully to market your own business?

It depends on how you define 'success.' I don't use Twitter to try to land new business, but I know that several of my clients follow me on Twitter or Facebook. I strongly believe that it helps to build our brand since those clients will make comments to me about my tweets. My tweets are automatically blasted out to Facebook and LinkedIn too, which helps in that regard.

Who have you met, from the Louisville area, after connecting on Twitter?

Rob May and Todd Earwood are two local influential Twitter users that if I didn't initially meet through Twitter I certainly bonded with through Twitter.
