The League of Legends Championship Series is giving Esports fans a chance to follow pro-LoL teams closer than ever before. For those looking to catch a weekly game or two in season 3 it will be nice to get to know the teams that you’re watching. Here’s a spotlight on one of the teams we’ll be seeing during the series.
EVIL GENIUSES
Background:
The Evil Geniuses are a strong team in the EU division of the Season3 LCS but they were just as strong under the name Counter Logic Gaming EU. The team was originally created in December of 2011 when Counter Logic Gaming and Absolute Legends merged their corporations.
The original roster included Wickd, Froggen, Snoopeh, Krepo, and yellowpete. In fact the key to their success could be the stability of their pan European team which has kept its core roster together from the beginning to the end. Not long after the merger in January Absolute Legends decided to leave the Counter Logic Gaming family but the team stayed.
As CLG.EU the team performed well placing in the top five for nearly every tournament they participated in. This excellent record has led to the team being widely regarded as one of the best European teams in the pro LoL scene. At the start of 2013 the team decided not to renew their contract with CLG.
On the 25th of January Evil Geniuses signed the team just in time for season 3. They were the first “League of Legends” team for the organization and have started off their LoL division. This amazing group of players seems to prove that the team that stays together wins together.

Fun Facts:
- With the rebranding of CLG Prime, Snoopeh joked that CLG.EU should be renamed CLG Optimus, making a Transformers reference.
- The team has been together for a long time and seems close yet they come from all across Europe. Froggen and Wickd are from Denmark, Snoopeh hails from Scotland, Yellowpete is German, and Krepo is from Belgium.
- The team is known for their careful play-style which leads to some of the longest games in tournaments.
- Evil Geniuses is involved with competitive games such as Counter Strike 1.6, DotA 2, Quake Live, StarCraft II, Super Street Fighter IV, and World of Warcraft. The addition of former CLG.EU to their organization has started their first ever LoL division.
