You don’t have to travel far to see gray whales thanks to San Diego, California-based Flagship Cruises. The company is offers twice-daily whale watching cruises departing from 990 North Harbor (adjacent to the USS Midway) complete with a naturist from Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. .

The cruises allow passengers to witness one of the longest mammal migrations in the world, when approximately 20,000 gray whales pass San Diego on their 10,000-mile round-trip journey from their Bering Sea feeding grounds to Baja California's lagoons, where they play, rest, breed and give birth

For fourteen years Flagship Cruises & Events and Birch Aquarium have hosted more than a quarter-million whale-watching enthusiasts whose fares help support t exhibits and educational programming at Birch Aquarium at Scripps, the largest provider of K-12 ocean science education in the San Diego region.

The cruise fares for the 3 ½ hour excursion cost $37 for adults, $32 for military and $18 for children Monday through Friday. On weekends it costs $24, $37 and $21 respectively. There are comfortable furnishing, snacks and restrooms on board. There’s also a guaranteed sighting or they will give you a ticket to cruise again.
