Debuting on the airwaves today.
106.7 The Fan is here. Are you listening?
Only time will tell if the new format is working... or at least until the next batch of PPM ratings from Arbitron.
They have their own jingles already... but as we listen right now, the topic is Buzz Aldrin. Is it really that far off of guy talk then?
This morning things got kicked off with the Sports Junkies. 10AM marked the debut of the Mike Wise Show with co-host Bill Rohland. According to the 1067thefandc.com website, Joe Gibbs is scheduled for today's show. A good kick-off in this town -- no one has bigger star power in DC.
Later today (at 2PM) will be the debut of Lavar Arrington and Chad Dukes. It will be odd to hear Chad without Oscar but we're looking forward to hearing what the former Redskins linebacker will be like on the air.
Right now, the website lists a mysterious "evening show" from 7PM to 10PM until the station turns itself over to FoxSports Radio until 5AM and the Sports Junkies come back on.
Are you listening to The Fan? If so, what do you think?

I am pretty mad to see The Big O and Dukes Show and the Mike O'Meara show gone. I heard both shows had strong ratings. I am not sure who decided the format was not working. I like the combination of talk/sport but this seems to be more sports. I will probably not tune in and might go buy an xm radio.

Why the heck did they change tha thing like that? This is stupid. And, no, I'm not listening to "The Fan". I liked the old WJFK better.
The new format sucks. They talk about the same stuff, only with less talented personalities. Mike Wise's halted, stuttering talk was awful, especially with all the "uh's" and "um's". He should stick to writing instead of talking. And Lavar Arington was equally as bad with nothing to talk about yet constantly interrupting Chad Dukes. And speaking of Chad Dukea, could he have sucked up any more to Lavar? I know he's the sidekick on this show, but come up with interesting things to say. The whole day everyone talked about Mike Vick, saying the same stuff that wad said on the previous, better format. WJFK is dead to me now, I will be buying a satellite radio as soon ad possible.
I do not like the new format at all and I love sports. I do love the sports junkies and I liked The Big O and Dukes show. The major change to the "new" format was the cancellation of the Mike O'Meara show - what were they thinking? BIG MISTAKE. Bring O'Meara back.
I have tried many times to listen to the new format but it really does suck. I still listen to the Junkies in the morning in the shower and on the way to work. However on the way home they repeat the same Junkies show from the morning! I tried listening at work to the new shows - they are awful. They used to have original interesting broadcasting now its drole monotomy. Also I don't care about the Redskins.
I hate the new format. I don't care for sports, and I'm happy to see how many people who DO like sports still dislike the change. CBS sold out a well liked local institution for a lame pony, hoping to catch greater numbers of indifferent listeners. I hope the compromising prostitutes in CBS radio end up poor and jobless for this aboration.
