Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2012: Sexy body painted models a hit

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2012  has three of its models, who are also big names in the sports world, appearing in the magazine and online with nothing more than body paint. This optical illusion will have you looking twice, but Alex Morgan, Natalie Coughlin and Natalie Gulbis are wearing body painted swimsuits and it's the latest online sensation.

Check out the three women in their body painted swimsuits here on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2012.

According to Golf.com, the idea for the body painting came from Gulbis, who mentioned it to the senior editor of Sports Illustrated, MJ Day, on her way out of a meeting. The magazine liked the idea and ran with it. Joanne Gair did the body painting; she’s an artist that’s done this work before. Gair’s body painting was seen on Marisa Miller, who was painted in a Sacramento Kings Jersey and a Rolling Stone T-Shirt.

According to the Bleacher Report, the body painting took hours to do. Gulbis said it took 13 hours to paint the suit on her while she stood in one place. “It’s an unbelievable process.” Because it took so long to get the suit painted on, her swimsuit shoot didn’t start until 11pm at night. How long did it take to get the remnants of the body painted swimsuit to go away completely? Believe it or not, Gulbis reports it all came off in just one shower!
