Kate Upton is the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl for the second year in a row. Instead of waiting until the David Letterman show on Feb. 11, the big reveal was leaked earlier today, according to a Feb. 8 E! News report. Also included in the 2013 Swimsuit Issue photo spreads are media sensation and new reality tv star Katherine Webb, and swimsuit model and rumored Derek Jeter girlfriend Hannah Davis.
Earlier this year, it was rumored that Nina Agdal, Hannah Davis and possibly Webb were in the running to snag this year's cover. After the leak, Sports Illustrated posted the cover to their website, asking fans to check back on Feb. 11 for “full 2013 Swimsuit coverage” and reminding everyone that Upton and the other nine swimsuit models will rock the Late Show with David Letterman, also on Feb. 11.
“Congratulations Ms.@kateupton !! Making history!” tweeted 2010 cover girl Brooklyn Decker after the reveal.
The cover was shot in Antarctica for a “Polar Bare” theme, according to E! News. After the reveal on Feb. 8, Upton tweeted, “We can finally talk about Antarctica!!!!!...Took us 2 months to thaw out.”
Former Sports Illustrated models who have graced back-to-back covers include Tyra Banks and Christie Brinkley, among others.
