Sporting KC: Jimmy Nielsen post Chivas game interview

What happened on the goal that Chivas scored?

They played some quick possession and we were not in the right position. He was pretty calm in front of the goal and (it) happens. It looked too easy. We've got to be better organized there. So something we have to work on, we have to be better from the beginning, from the first whistle.

Worried that the team has given up the first goal at home in the past couple games?

Yes! It's not necessary. It's up the hill, we've got to keep working and keep working, keep working, keep working.

Was the team disorganized on more than that goal?

We didn't do well in the first half, we were always one step behind. We've got to give credit to Chivas also, they were a very good possession team.

Was it fatigue, lack of focus or something else in the first half?

When you play eleven games without losing, sometimes you take off the power. We have to remember how we are getting those points. Hard work, hard work, hard work. Hard work at practice, big focus on the games, that what we got to keep doing.  We are not a Barcelona team that can win games on bad days. We are regular soccer players who have to work for each other and look like a team. That's what we have to do and when we do that we are a very good team.

There's no excuses. Because today I thought we were tired but when you look at the second half, we were running and we were all over them. If we can do that in the second half then of course we can do that in the first half. We have to be better from the first whistle.

Was the improved play in the second half tactical or mental adjustment?

Both, we changed a little bit and you can see from the beginning that we have success with the change. That give you momentum, that give you the energy to believe in.

Did you have a doubt about equalizing?

When the clock turns to ninety, you can't see how long is left. It played a bit over ninety and I was doubting how much time was left. But you can see in the players, they keep trying and keep trying. At one point I say alright, we can't do more than what we're doing but we keep doing it and we score and we deserve that point.

Worried that it's one point and not three?

I don't care. This is so important, it's such an important point for us. We're unbeaten in twelve games now. I don't give a damn about all that. To score in the ninety-third or ninety-fourth minute makes you believe you can do it again next time.
