Spooky Spas

If you think Halloween at the spa is all about pumpkin themed treatments and complementary candy, think again.

This year, spas are getting creative and offering a variety of options for guests to "get spooky in the spa". Choose from trick or treating for gemstones,  a costume party in a Zen Garden, a chocolate fondue wrap or a "bird poop" facial to get your Halloween season started right.

In Denver, the Spa at the Four Seasons is offering guests an opportunity to "trick or treat". A bowl of "gemstones" will be made available in the spa lounge and every guest will have a chance to pick a stone. Depending on what color gemstone is picked, guests will receive a "treat"-- ranging from a gift card to the Four Seasons restaurant EDGE for $25,  a gift card toward a future Spa treatment for $25, or a card for 25% off their Spa retail purchase.  Gem trick or treating is available Oct. 24-Oct. 31.

In Northern California, Osmosis Day Spa will be hosting a special Halloween costume party on October 27th. Visit their authentic Zen Garden and enjoy food, music and wine. Cedar-enzyme foot baths and mini-spa treatments will also be available. Show up in costume and you will  have the  chance to win a Rejuvenation Package ($195) .

Indulge in a grown-up treat at the Hershey Spa at the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Though their chocolate themed treatments are offered all year long, Halloween is the perfect time to try a Chocolate Decadence Spa package, a Whipped Cocoa Bath or a Chocolate Fondue Wrap.

In New York, Shizuka Day Spa is offering a Halloween special on their Geisha "Bird Poop" facial. The facial is now featured at $90! This is a 50% discount from the normal price of $180. Drawing on an ancient Japanese tradition, this facial uses powdered nightingale droppings to cleanse the skin. Used by the Geisha of Japan, this unique treatment has a long history, that has recently been revived in the United States at Shizuka.
