A Spokane, Washington man faces multiple charges of animal cruelty after authorities found video recordings of the man having sexual relations with a horse and three dogs, reports kxly.com.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, Travis Austin Joy, 45, was arrested on Wednesday and faces seven counts of first-degree animal cruelty and two counts of harassment for threatening to kill the people he believed turned the videos over to authorities. In July, videos were turned into the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) of Joy having sexual relations with the animals. The Spokesman Review reports Joy had left his video camera with the recordings behind when he moved out; the roommate found the disturbing videos and turned them over to authorities. Detectives were able to track and identify Joy by tattoos and facial recognition.
One of the dogs in the video belonged to Joy. That dog and another dog were turned over to SCRAPS. A third dog belonged to a friend of Joy's. The dog's owner told police he had left Joy with his dog for several hours while he had been away. When he returned, the dog was in a corner trembling and had been bleeding from her genitals. That dog later died. When police asked Joy why he filmed himself having sex with animals, Joy responded by telling them he could view them and "not need to repeat any of the acts."
Joy is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is prohibited from having any contact with animals. His prior criminal records show multiple arrests for assault.
