Spokane cat lovers choose reusable, cat-themed coffee cup sleeves

Roadsides, sidewalks, streets, and even front lawns in Spokane are spotted with discarded coffee cup sleeves on a daily basis. Garbage cans and landfills too, are filled with them. Spokane feline fanciers have elected to design reusable sleeves, decorated with cute cats. They are easy to make, inexpensive and help the environment more that you realize.

These coffee-cup sleeves also protect fingers from piping-hot lattes you make at home.
Simply slip the sleeve on your cup before pouring the early morning beverage and off to work you go!

The supplies you will need for this useful item are felt, fabric scissors, pinking shears, a sewing machine, craft glue and a picture of your cat, laminated.

Cut felt with fabric scissors and then wrap it around a coffee cup, pin or tape in place, and slip cup out. Machine-sew closed and remove the tape. Trim the seam with pinking shears, leaving 1/4-inch surplus. Cut out hearts with scissors; glue to sleeve. Next glue a picture of your cat in the middle of the heart.

It’s that simple. You will love it so much you will want to make one for each holiday. They are also make great, little giveaways to let people know you are thinking of them and cherish their friendship.

These enchanting sleeves are showing up all over in Spokane and no wonder. You can show off your feline, help the environment and celebrate Valentine’s Day all at the same time. Why not make one today? Or better yet, make one for everyone in the office.
