St. Patrick’s Day, affectionately called St. “Catrick’s” Day is honored by the members of the ever growing Spokane Cat Club. The craft activity slated for Saturday, February 23, 2013 was highly successful. The big bustle was making cat jewelry to wear on March 17th. The two most popular items were the Feline Shamrock Pin and the Cat Claddagh Pins. Both pieces are extremely easy to make, economical and great to swap with friends.
The items you will need to make the Feline Shamrock pin are a foam shamrock, a mini top hat, a jewelry craft pin, gold foil, tacky glue, scissors and a picture of your cat. Most of these items can be purchased at the Dollar Tree.
Once you have all the supplies gathered together, cut a small slit close to the bottom of the foam shamrock. Push in a tiny top hat and glue along the base of the hat. Cut out a teeny gold square from the foil. Glue to the front side of the mini hat. Next glue a small, laminated picture of your cat to the shamrock. Finally attach a pin to the back. Pin.
Claddagh Pins are symbols of friendship, loyalty and love in Ireland. Add a cat and you have expressed your special bonding with your feline. To make this appealing pin you will need foam hands, a foam heart, tacky glue, a metallic chenille stem, a jewelry craft pin, a low temperature glue gun. And a laminated picture of your feline.
Once you have all the materials gathered together, glue the hands in back of the heart. Cut a metallic chenille stick in half. Shape it into a crown shape and glue to back of heart. Next glue the laminated picture of your cat to the front of the heart and last of all attach the pin to the back.
These make wonderful little giveaways and can be used for years to come.
