Keyed by a 14-2 run, the Splendora Lady Wildcats defeated the Huffman Lady Falcons 46-40 at Competition Gym in Huffman on Friday night. Minutes before the tip-off in a battle of District 22-3A unbeatens, Lady Falcons head coach Amy Daniels acknowledged what a difficult task lay ahead.

"They are a good team and we will have to play our best," said Daniels. "The key to the victory will be which team does the little things right most consistently."

For the first eight minutes of play, Huffman (17-5, 5-1) did those little things exhibiting crisp passing, timely buckets and a hardnose in- your-face defense building a 7-2 lead.

Splendora with four sophomores on the floor found their footing late in the opening quarter to rebound and tie the game at 9-9.

Williams' grabbed two rebounds, scored a basket and a block as Huffman cut the lead to six with 4:35 to play. The Falcons cut the deficit to four with 1:35 to go before Spledora's Emily Richardson took control.

Richardson sank four consecutive free throws with less then a minute to play keeping Huffman at bay and sealing the 46-40 win. Splendora's guard finished with a team high 13 points.
