We all have a little bit of a sweet tooth. Sometimes our coffee needs more sugar or we’re being cautious about our intake.
Counting calories has become a huge trend to lose a couple pounds but is the healthy alternative diet drinks and artificial sugars?
The answer is no.
After a recent study the popular low calorie artificial sweetener, Splenda, now has a caution label. The study resulted in finding an alarming rate of Leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells that starts in the bone marrow, in lab mice.
This has been an ongoing study for over 10 years and the FDA is asking for further research to be done.
Common reported side effects include migraines, rashes, chest pain, acne, bloating, bleeding gums, intestinal cramping, tinnitus and dizziness.
The brand’s company has asked for further research to be done, because they have their own studies advocating the safety in Splenda. However, the FDA and most researchers are advising users to stay away from artificial sugars all together.
If you need to add sweetness to your meal, add less of real sugar. It’s better to have a bitter meal than to have cancer.
