Have you ever heard the expressions, "I'm dying to tell you this" or I'm going to burst unless I tell this"?
"This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law." (Acts 6:13)
The story Stephen told before his death was no new story, no made-up story. It was one that was well known to his audience. Stephen went back to the beginning of time and recounted everything that had happened in Jewish history up to the present time.
Stephen was stoned to death because the Jews were tired of hearing the same story. They had heard it over and over again, but they were not living by the principles of the story.
Stephen understood the story and lineage of Jesus including His death, burial, resurrection and ascension. Stephen wanted others to know and understand that story as well.
Stephen had a story he was dying to tell.
And died, he did!
But the story continues. Has Stephen died in vain?
Are you willing to continue telling the same story about the saving power of Jesus Christ?
Be willing to die telling the story!
