Spirit Reserves move into conference lead

All the magic belonged to the Washington Spirit Reserves as they routed the New York Magic 7-0 in W-League action June 1. Lina Grandos had a hat trick for Washington and Jennifer Skogerboe contributed a pair of assists.

Washington leads the Northeastern Conference with a 3-0 record. The N.J. Wildcats are second at 2-1-1.

The Spirit Reserves return home June 7 for a rematch against New Jersey. Match time is set for 7 pm and will be held at Liberty High School in Bealeton, Va. On May 31, the Spirit Reserves bettered the Wildcats 1-0 on the road. Katie Yensen scored the only goal of the game. Satara Murray, Meghan Cox, Monica Mendes, Sam Lofton and Niomi Serrano were cited for their defense in the match.

The Spirit Reserves captured the 2014 US Soccer National Amateur Championship May 25 beating Houston 2-0. Aaran Parry and Kelsie Pardue scored in the title game.

Braddock Road is scheduled to return to action June 8 when the Stars Elite meet the Wildcats at Robinson High School. It will only be Braddock Road’s second match.
