Spinn is a powerhouse trio of superb vocalists whose flawless harmonies never fail to amaze. Initially settling into a comfortable kind of folk rock groove, over the years, these young women have continually evolved and refined who they are as artists. On their latest single, “City Country,” the girls from Spinn have truly embraced the country in their collective soul and reached an apex in their career. It is hard to imagine music could get any better than this.
“2014 marks our kick in to the alternative country door!” Spinn commented on their new direction. “Up until recently, country music wasn’t as widely liked in our area, so it made the idea of being an alternative country band from New Jersey sound a little nutty. Our music has always been influenced by artists like Dolly Parton, Patty Griffin, and the Dixie Chicks, but since the resurgence of country radio in the New York area, we’ve been able to embrace that side of ourselves more than ever before!”
“The idea for our latest single, ‘City Country,’ was sparked by a conversation we had about how much we love country music, despite the fact that we are, what some may consider, ‘geographically challenged.’ Music is a universal language, and even though ours has a strong Jersey accent, the country music inspiration is still there! We may not wear ten-gallon hats and we probably couldn’t drive — or even start — a tractor, but we have hearts a country mile wide and hope ‘City Country’ will speak to lovers of all kinds of music.”
In celebration of the just-released-today single/EP, Spinn is having a record release party tonight (May, 1) at Langosta Lounge (1000 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park, New Jersey). “The anticipation for the release is killing us!” Spinn expressed. “Not only will this be the first time most people hear ‘City Country,’ it will also be the first time we play it in front of an audience! It’s a fun, energetic song that really gets us dancing during practice, so we’re excited to see what it does for our fans when we play it live! We started off playing together in Asbury Park and then ventured north to New York City, so in a way, it’s sort of both a homecoming and a release event. Double trouble!”
These days, there are scores of really good artists proliferating the music scene. Furthermore, there is even an ample supply of great ones out there who are all vying for your attention. However, there can only be one act that truly earns the title, “The Best!” Spinn has the talent, songs, and charismatic dazzle needed to receive that coveted title. With their crystalized vision of who they are, you can count on this talented trio of alt-country girls taking the spotlight in 2014!
