Fox News reported on Oct 26, 2013, a woman is suing McDonald's for her injuries she encountered from hot coffee. Joan Fino ordered coffee through the drive through. She claims the workers did not put the lid tight enough, leading to second degree burns. So, what does she plan to do about it?
She will not sit around and wait for McDonald's to apologize. She decided, with her lawyers 'expert' advise, to sue McDonald’s for two million dollars. The attorney representing her, told the press that because the staff did not attach the lid properly, her injury, a burned leg deserves a multimillion dollar judgment.
Will she get the money? Probably not. In fact, she must have missed it, but on the lid and the cup itself it says, 'caution when handling a hot beverage'. Do you think her injury is worth two million dollars? Do you think McDonald’s made any error?
The general opinion so far is she will lose the case, because this case has already been tried a few years ago, which is the reason for the labeling of the hot beverage. We will have to see how it plays out when the case goes to court.
