The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will battle each other in Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2. Many will tune in to see what is expected to be a well-played game, but a lot will watch mainly for the commercials. And while there are expected to be some funny ones from Budweiser, Chevrolet, and other companies, there will also be plenty of trailers for highly anticipated movies, according to a Jan. 24 report from Variety.
Disney will be the one studio to show the most trailers. The Aaron Paul action flick, “Need for Speed,” and the comic book sequel, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” are two that will run, while “Muppets Most Wanted” will have a tie-in with Toyota.
One of the studio’s upcoming summer releases, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” will not get a spot, according to a tweet from the film’s director, James Gunn.
Paramount will premiere Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction” during the big game, while Sony will release a new trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Lionsgate will run a pregame ad for the Kevin Costner football drama, “Draft Day.”
Even though Fox is airing the Super Bowl, 20th Century Fox has yet to purchase spots for its two tentpoles, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
