Spicy crab balls at Joe's Crab Shack

See also

Joe's Crab Shack is a seafood restaurant chain with locations all across the United States. If you've never eaten at a Joe's restaurant before, you are in for a truly unique dining experience. Joe's is definitely not your typical seafood chain restaurant. The vibe of the restaurant is casual and fun. Servers often break into group dances and provide ample entertainment throughout the evening.

Joe's menu is also unique. The restaurant offers a variety of seafood specialties, like crab cakes and jumbo coconut shrimp, as well as a few items for non-seafood lovers, like smoked ribs and cheesy chicken. But if you truly want the Joe's experience, go for one of their steampots or buckets of crab. It's an eat with your hands type of meal and each item comes with a variety of crab legs, additional seafood items, sausage and corn. These items can get a little messy but that's part of the fun of it. Plus, servers provide plenty of utensils, napkins and bibs for cleaning up after cracking open crab legs.

You cannot go to Joe's Crab Shack without trying their famous "great balls of fire" starter. These are a personal favorite of mine and perfect for those that love crab and spicy food. The balls are stuffed with crab, cream cheese and jalapeno, then coated in panko breadcrumbs and fried until they are crispy. The appetizer is served with french fries and creamy ranch dip. These things are addictive!
