Spice up your holiday

2011 was certainly the year for Hornitos tequila. Whether it was to heat things up for Valentine's Day; add a little more sparkle to the 4th of July; keep cool over the scorching summer or bring some extra flavor to the Thanksgiving Day dinner table, Hornitos didn't let you down. And Christmas is no exception. Hornitos knows that the holiday spirit sometimes needs a little encouragement and these cocktails can certainly give it a kick start. So if you're looking to put a jingle in your bells or a special gift in someone's stocking, grab a bottle of Hornitos, mix up some cocktails and let the reindeer games begin.

The Cold Snap

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ parts clove-infused Hornitos™ Plata Tequila*
  • ¼ part DeKuyper™ Hazelnut Liqueur
  • ¼ part DeKuyper™ Apricot Flavored Brandy
  • ¼ part lemon juice

Directions:

Combine ingredients and shake with ice and strain into a larger shot glass.

*Add one ounce (by weight) of cloves per 750ml bottle, let sit for 20-25 minutes.

Pomegranate Margarita

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces Sauza® Blue 100% Agave Silver Tequila
  • 3 cups Pomegranate Juice
  • 1 cup Coconut Water
  • 2 ounces DeKuyper™ Pomegranate Liqueur
  • 2 ounces Orange Liquor
  • Juice of 2 Lemons (about 3-4 ounces)
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar (to rim glasses)
  • 1 lemon (to garnish)
  • 1 Pomegranate (optional)

Directions:

Rim your glasses; run a lemon wedge around the rim of your glass and dip in sugar. In a shaker filled with ice, combine pomegranate juice, coconut water, tequila, liquors and lemon juice. Shake and pour into prepared glasses. Garnish with a lemon wedge. For an extra special touch, add fresh pomegranate seeds to the cocktail and serve with a spoon so your guests can easily enjoy!
