The Style Network explores the unchartered world of sperm donors in the documentary 'Sperm Donor' premiering Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, according to September 7, 2011, press release from Style Network. 'Sperm Donor' follows two different donor families who connect through the Donor Sibling Registry (DSR).
The documentary explores the complex relationship between sperm donors and their offspring. While most sperm donors never meet their offspring, they may have numerous children who share their DNA. The complicated ramifications of having unknown children and siblings are touched on in this film.
Ben who made a one time donation when he was in college and now has 74 offspring - with more on the way. Ten years after the donation, Ben is engaged and must tell his fiance that he has children. She grapples with the information and wonders how this will affect their future. Ben makes plans to meet a mother from Seattle, who has two children from his sperm donation and have his DNA.
The film also features half-sisters, from different parts of the country, who meet for the very first time. The half sister, Adrienne and Karis, connected by the same sperm donor, have talked on the phone and video chatted on the computer. Adrienne surprises Karis to help her half sister prepare for her senior prom.
