Middletown Para Co-op is holding an overnight investigation at the haunted Fort Mifflin on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Bring your sleeping bag and prepare for an evening of exploration and spooky discoveries!
Fort Mifflin, Pennsylvania has long been dubbed the “fort that saved America.” It is here where the troops fought off the British so George Washington could get settled in Valley Forge allowing his troops to re cooperate for the winter.
The ghost stories surrounding Fort Mifflin have been circulating a long time. The first tale was reported back in 1778 when the eerie wailing of women could be heard mourning the loss of men at the “Siege of Fort Mifflin” when there were no women present at the fort.
More hauntings have been discovered and investigated through the years. There is a screaming woman is associated with the Officer’s Quarters and believed to be Elizabeth Pratt. A faceless man has been seen several times near Casement 5. An old fashion lamplighter has been spotted carrying an oil-burning lamp. An entity dubbed as the ‘tour guide’ is dressed in period clothing and has given tours to guests when there were no actual guides on duty.
The cost of this event is just $100.00 per person and all proceeds go to the Fort Mifflin. This covers your overnight stay, light snacks and refreshments, and demonstration of new equipment. Mary Gasparo and Lorraine Irby will be on hand to tell the history of Fort Mifflin.
Mark Sarro will be on hand to provide live streaming of the event so viewers can tune in from time to time. www.livestream.com/itclounge about 8:00 PM
