One of my favorite things to do with the kids is spend the day at the North County Aquatic Center in Sebastian. This is definitely a water world full of fun and excitement. There is something for everyone, lap swimming, water slides, high dives and a wet deck.
This facility opened in 2002 and have been serving swimmers and divers of all skill levels. It has even been home to several aquatic competitions, including the Special Olympics. The competition pool is filled with 1 million gallons of water and can be set up for 8 long course or 24 short courses. There are two high one meter boards and two three meter boards.
If you are not a competition or fitness swimmer and just want to enjoy some fun in the sun, head over to the kids wet deck area. This area is perfect for swimmers of any age. There is a water playground in the middle of the pool, complete with water canons and water falls. For the more adventurous swimmers there are two race slides where guests can see who makes it to the bottom first.
Though concessions are available, coolers are allowed in. When we go, we pack sandwiches and other snacks in a cooler and are prepared to make it an entire day of swimming and sunbathing. Do not forget to bring plenty of water with too.
If you are looking for something to do, I highly suggest spending the day at the North County Aquatic Center. If you live in the area, check into getting an annual pass for the entire family. That way there is always something to do on a quiet weekend.
The pools are heated and open year round. Hours of operation vary depending upon the time of year and inclement weather can force the center to temporarily close.
The North County Aquatic Center is located at 9450 CR 512 in Sebastian. For more information or to check on hours of operations call 772.581.POOL.
